The Nikon D90 has just been released and it’s the next camera on my wishlist. It features 12.3 Megapixels, A “D-Movie” mode function (a first for DSLRs), a 3″ LCD and an ISO range from 100-3200!

As you may (or may not) have noticed there is a photography page in the top bar. This page will include galleries for certain events or other photography I have taken.

If it says ‘-Encrypted’ at the end of a folder name, then you need a username and password to access that particular area of the site. This is to respect people’s privacy etc.

If it doesn’t have ‘-Encrypted’ at the end, then the folder is viewable by anyone. No username or password required.

So please explore the galleries, they are still in development and they were only added yesterday, so please be patient.

I’ve been thinking, even though I currently use a Canon EOS 400D/ Digital Rebel XTi, I may switch over to Nikon later this year. It is not a major loss, as I haven’t spent so much on glass. I have a 18-55mm Kit Lens and a 50mm f/1.8 Prime Lens.

Why the possible switch to Nikon? Well, for one the build quality of Nikon looks superior to Canon. I have a teacher at my school who has a Nikon D200. I saw it on Friday mounted with a 70-300mm VR Lens. It was an amazing camera. Build quality, image quality was amazing.

Nikon also appear to have better piece of mind. A lens hood is supplied with most lenses. Where as Canon only supply a hood with their ‘L’ (Luxury) Lenses. These small things can make all the difference.

Will I be rid of Canon? No, the 400D would become my secondary camera, it will probably not be sold.

Which model of Nikon? Either the D80, D200 or if I really saved up my money, a D300.

What do you think?

“it’s karl otto’s. nice time we chat, I’ll let him know ;)” - When talking of the iPhone, note the errors.

“Nathan is a canon user! ” - When talking of iPhone users

“I’m not fond of yahoo maps. via google it’s about here though I’m not sure of the precise location.” - When talking of geotagging a photograph, note the fanboyism towards Google.
